Do I need a permit for a deck or fence in Sacramento?
Fences under 7 feet and freestanding decks under 30 inches above grade generally do not require a permit in most local jurisdictions. Attached decks, elevated decks and covered patios usually do. We confirm with your specific city or county and pull the permit when it is needed.
Composite or wood, which should I choose?
Composite costs more up front but eliminates annual staining and holds color in full sun, which matters here. Redwood is beautiful and less expensive initially but needs sealing every year or two. We price both so you can decide with real numbers.
How long will a new fence last?
A properly built redwood or cedar fence with posts set in concrete typically lasts 15-20 years in this climate. The posts almost always fail before the boards, which is why we do not cut corners on setting them.
Can you replace just part of my fence?
Yes. We do partial replacements, post repairs and gate rebuilds regularly. If matching weathered boards is a concern, we will tell you honestly how close a match you can expect.
Do you handle the shared-fence conversation with neighbors?
We can provide a written scope and estimate you can share with a neighbor for a cost-split conversation, and we will work with both parties on scheduling and access.
