How long does it take to build a custom home in the Sacramento area?
Most custom homes run 10-16 months from permit issuance to final inspection, plus 3-6 months of design and plan check beforehand. Lot conditions, jurisdiction and the size of the home are the biggest variables, and we give you a written schedule before construction starts.
Do I need to own the lot before I contact you?
No. We regularly review lots for clients before purchase. A short feasibility check on slope, soil, utility access and zoning can save you from buying a parcel that costs far more to develop than it looks.
Can you work with my architect?
Yes. We collaborate with your architect and engineer, or bring in design partners we trust. Either way we price the plans honestly and flag anything that will be expensive to build before it is drawn.
How do allowances work?
Every estimate includes named allowances for items like cabinetry, tile, plumbing fixtures and flooring. You see exactly what dollar figure is carried, so if you upgrade, you know precisely what the difference costs.
Are you licensed and insured for ground-up construction?
Yes. California Dream Builds is a licensed, insured California general contractor. We provide license and insurance documentation with every proposal and pull all permits in our name.
